We are bicycle commuters in the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is our effort to raise awareness of bicycle commuters, encourage more people to get on their bikes, and identify issues pertaining to those of us who use a bicycle for transportation.

I always knew Summit City bikes was awesome...
Congrats to Summit City Bikes.
Official bike shop of the Fort Wayne Bike Commuter (i.e. That's where I go to buy bike stuff, unless of course I am downtown or it's Sunday. Then I head over to the The Bike Depot). Interesting to me that in a town this size that there are only two bike shops? Is that true?

There is a bike shop called Bikes and Boards across from Shoaf Park. They have been very helpful. VC
My bad.
After I wrote this post I thought about them and have been meaning to check it out.
Thanks VC.
Is this Vince the Bike Commuter?
No this is Val a commuter want a be who is trying to figure out how to get down Stellhorn without being ran down.
Val,
Good to hear from you.
Thanks for reading.
From what I hear from a number of riders, Stellhorn is a total nightmare and there is no way to avoid it. Have you looked at a map of the area to try to find a way to stay off of it for the most part? I have even heard from a number of folks that cyclists actually ride in the center turn lane! Unbelievable! The bast advice that I learned from a road safety class that I took last week is that you need to take the lane for your very own to not allow people to pass you in that lane. It may sound a little scary but ride so someone has to change lanes to pass you. I use this often on narrower roads that are in town. Stellhorn is a joke and I don't have any idea what can be done about it. Good luck and stay safe.
